DARE UK Driver Projects unveil shared plans to transform UK-wide sensitive data research

Revving up for Innovation: The UKRI-funded Driver Projects engage with the public on future plans and bold endeavours for the DARE UK (Data and Analytics Research Environments UK) programme.

In January 2023, as part of the DARE UK programme, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) commissioned five driver projects to inform the design of a UK-wide network of trusted research environments (TREs) – highly secure digital environments that provide access to sensitive data for analysis by accredited researchers.

These projects are set to explore ways to harmonise the different standards, processes and systems currently in place across the different TREs in the UK to support DARE UK’s mission – to design and deliver a coordinated and trustworthy national data research infrastructure to support cross-domain research in the public good.

Learn more about the five DARE UK driver projects

On Wednesday, 8 March 2023, in line with DARE UK’s commitment to public involvement and engagement, the project teams of all five driver projects shared their plans with the public. This hour-long online interaction unpacked each project’s aim and delivery framework in a simple and accessible manner, inviting questions and contributions from members of the public.

The DARE UK driver projects will run for nine months, from February to October 2023, and their progress will be shared publicly via the DARE UK website, Twitter page and monthly newsletter (subscribe here).
