The UK TRE Community Quarterly Meeting happens on 26th March 2025 from 09:30 to 13:00 (London time). This event will be remote. Please join us!

About the event

As part of the sequence of events focused on understanding “federation” and its implications on the UK TRE community, this event is all about Information Governance.

We are teaming up with the UKTRE DARE UK interest group on Information Governance that has just started and is funded till March 2026. See here to join that JISC email channel: TRE-IG@jiscmail.ac.uk

We will get started with our usual community updates, both from working groups and anyone that wants to share out (please let us know in advance if you would like to speak).

We shall also be sharing some pre-reading a set of simple single sheet descriptions of what Information Governance.

Intended audience

  • Anyone interested in information Governance from any team or entity or as members of the public.
  • The audience will hopefully learn, and can just listen but are actively encouraged to engage in the discussion to help shape the work.
  • The event is a mix of presentations and community discussion with at least an hour for the latter.
  • The agenda is aiming to allow open discussion of what Information Governance encompasses – so an education element – but also time to discuss what needs to change for a federation model to exist for UK secure data research.

Note the presentations and discussion will be recorded and shared via YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd7AZjyH33aCmIojGHMfqEg. Notes on the event will also be published in our event archive and UK TRE Zenodo Community https://zenodo.org/communities/uktre

Background

The UK TRE Community is a community of over 200 people that has grown organically over the last year for anyone interested in TREs, including researchers, operators, information governors, managers and more, from all sectors and disciplines.

The core aims of fostering collaboration and sharing of innovative ideas to support the delivery of groundbreaking research with sensitive data have resonated across the UK and beyond.

The community has a website, an active mailing list and Slack channel, and working groups tackling shared problems. We also run quarterly events like this for the community to come together, discuss ideas and problems within the TRE space and work collaboratively together on possible solutions and ways forward!
