From health and education to justice and economic wellbeing, data research across sectors and disciplines has the power to improve lives.
DARE UK exists to support the data research community, working alongside the public, to establish some of the foundations needed for this type of research to deliver public good. One such effort is networking and knowledge-sharing forums, and we are proud to be a Platinum Sponsor at the ADR UK Conference 2025, hosted by ADR Wales in Cardiff from 17-18 September.
This event is an important fixture in the UK data research community calendar to come together, reflect on progress, share ideas, and shape the future of data-driven innovation.
Why the ADR UK Conference 2025 is a must-attend event
Whether you’re a researcher, policymaker, data custodian or technologist, the ADR UK Conference 2025 offers an invaluable opportunity to explore how administrative data can be harnessed to improve lives. With its theme, “From records to research: Harnessing administrative data to enhance lives,” the conference covers everything from health and justice to education, social care, and beyond.
But what makes this conference truly essential is its cross-sector nature. It’s a space where people with different expertise will come together—those who manage data, build the infrastructure to use it, ensure it is accessed safely, and engage the public to build trust.
For DARE UK, the conference is an opportunity to connect with our community, share learning from across the programme, and support open, inclusive dialogue on how we can build a national data research infrastructure that works for everyone.
How DARE UK supports the ADR UK community
ADR UK is a delivery partner of the DARE UK programme, aiming to deliver a secure and cohesive framework to support safe, collaborative, and impactful data research across the UK.
Here are some of the ways we work closely with the ADR UK community:
- Conference sponsorship and participation: We are proud to have supported the ADR UK Conference in 2023 and now in 2025 – not just as sponsors but as active participants. In 2023, we joined researchers and data professionals in Birmingham, and we’re excited to do so again this year in Cardiff.
- Leadership in dialogue and collaboration: At the 2023 International Population Data Linkage Network (IPDLN) Conference, hosted by ADR Scotland in Edinburgh, DARE UK was also an active participant, and our then Director, Hans-Erik G. Aronson, delivered a keynote on DARE UK’s strategic vision. We’ve also taken part in key events like the 2024 ONS Research Capability event, facilitating workshops and sharing insights from our scientific use cases workshop with the community.
- Supporting community groups: Through our community groups initiative, we fund and endorse interest groups and working groups and support communities of practice that address shared challenges in the use of sensitive data for public benefit. Many of these groups involve ADR UK Research Fellows or focus on areas of strategic interest to ADR UK.
- Developing infrastructure for the public good: Our mission is to ensure that research conducted across sectors and disciplines using sensitive public data is not only technically secure but also socially acceptable. This means involving the public and underrepresented communities, which are a crucial part of the ADR UK community, in shaping how data is accessed and used.
