We want to hear your views on our draft recommendations for the design and delivery of a more joined-up, efficient and trustworthy national data research infrastructure.

Please note: the call for views has now closed.

Data has the power to improve lives, and has been fundamental to the UK’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is crucial that the different components of the UK’s data research infrastructure work in a joined-up, impactful and trustworthy way, to support research at scale for public benefit. They need to be able to support fast and efficient sharing, linkage and advanced analysis of sensitive data in an ethical and secure manner, whilst maintaining the confidence – and meeting the needs of – researchers, data guardians and the public.

The DARE UK (Data and Analytics Research Environments UK) programme has been initiated by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to design and deliver a more coordinated national data research infrastructure for the UK, with a specific focus on supporting cross-domain linkage and analysis of sensitive data. Phase 1 of the programme – ‘Design and Dialogue’ – has been an extensive listening exercise to understand, through open dialogue with stakeholders – including researchers, technologists, funders, the public and others – what the current challenges are, and what’s needed to enable more efficient, coordinated and trustworthy data research across the UK.

We have now compiled the findings and recommendations from our engagement during DARE UK Phase 1 to date into a draft report, and would like your feedback on whether we have accurately captured your views about current challenges and opportunities. If you’re a technologist, researcher, member of the public or anybody else interested in providing your feedback, please follow the links below to view the draft report and complete the survey.

The call for views closes at 23:59 on Sunday 31 July 2022. Individual responses will not be published.

If you would like to get in touch to discuss the draft report and recommendations further, or require any assistance to complete the survey, please get in touch via enquiries@dareuk.org.uk.
