DARE UK, in collaboration with partners of the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI), is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural PEDRI pilot campaign, Your Data in Action.

We are delighted to announce the launch of Your Data in Action, the first pilot campaign from the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI).

Informed by focus groups and insights gathered from the public, Your Data in Action aims to raise awareness of how data for research can make a difference to parents and their children. This pilot campaign is targeted at parents in Barking and Dagenham, and North Tyneside and will inform the roll-out of future national campaigns.

Your Data in Action provides an online hub for parents to explore, learn and get involved. There are videos and blogs, along with case studies looking at the exam results of formula-fed babies to how local authorities are harnessing maternal data to improve the care system.

Andrew Morris, Director, HDR UK, says: “We are very excited HDR UK and its PEDRI partners are launching its pilot campaign raising awareness of the positive role data plays in new family’s lives. Representativeness in research is vital, and this is an innovative approach to patient and public involvement and participation.  I hope it will produce new insights and learnings on how to engage and earn trust in the research use of routine data in people’s lives”.

Hans-Erik Aronson, Director, DARE UK, says: “We are indeed thrilled to support the launch of PEDRI’s Your Data in Action pilot campaign alongside our partners. In our collective drive towards more efficient access to sensitive data, this campaign emphasises the importance of inclusivity in data research for public benefit while creating a valuable opportunity for learning. We look forward to insightful outcomes”.

PEDRI is a sector-wide partnership bringing together organisations that work with data to establish new and best practices for public engagement around data research. This campaign is the result of a collective approach between PEDRI members HDR UK, Office for National Statistics, ADR UK, DARE UK, NHS England, and Research Data Scotland. The campaign is an innovative approach to collaborate and share lessons learnt across the industry to ensure the best possible outcomes.
